My mistake, Rempit. What I meant to say was "mamak-style" stalls. I am disappointed that it does not bother you in the least that such stalls operate in a park, in a residential area, along a busy thoroughfare already congested with traffic from park users and nearby schools. (And you are telling me you would actually enjoy eating in such conditions?! Come on, bro.)

If you are so desperate for roti canai (I get the occasional craving myself), may I suggest you hop across to Restoran D'Polo along Jalan Brash, which is a short stroll away from the hawker stalls and which is, at least, in a contained environment, away from the thoroughfare, and CIVILISED.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it a lot more here. And even if you did not, spare a thought for the poor residents around the entire 3km radius (a lot of houses in the area!). You wouldn't like it if it was you at the suffering end, would you? Think about it.

here is an idea.
"no rhetoric day every saturday"
instead
"more work day every saturday"

let us create, organise and manage events for the people of ipoh and by the people of ipoh

forget the mbi,the politicians,the talkers,suggestors,
ego centric councillours or even the business people.
forget them all.

forget the big ideas.

just rally around among friends and play.
at the ipoh padang or any open ground.
let us all lepak at the mbi, govt.office, agency and business centres, shop and anywhere as long as it is in ipoh.

still talking,suggesting and planning?
i dont think so!

"Nowhere else in the world are pesky hawkers and mamak stalls allowed in public recreational parks" Ipohite.

Mamak stalls at Polo Ground? You must be kidding, Ipohite. I was there yesterday there were stalls but no mamak stalls. Would love a piece of roti canai and teh tarik if one was around.

I agree with Karim Raslan and Friend of the Community. We are letting our heritage and iconic symbols go to ruin while not doing enough to bring in tourists to Perak.

Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz should indeed be a shining icon of Perak, something Ipohites can be proud of, but it is today nothing more than a cheap trashy pasar malam with the street in front of it congested with noisy, ugly hawkers, traffic, and pollution.

Would tourists visiting our lovely city be attracted to Polo Ground in this disgusting state? Certainly not!!

MBI should learn from other councils to see how their parks are maintained and even sanctified. Nowhere else in the world are pesky hawkers and mamak stalls allowed in public recreational parks.. and for good reason!

And the first thing the powers that be in Perak can do is to bring the glory back to Taman Rekreasi Sultan Abdul Aziz (more popularly known as Polo Ground)!! Dispose of the pesky hawkers once and for all! What an eyesore they are to the beautiful park.. they ruin the lovely landscape of the park! Bring back peace, safety, sense and sensibility to the grand old park!

Come on, MBI, do your part and stop all the nonsense going on at Polo Ground once and for all!!

I like this fella. He has a way with words. Subtlety is his forte. Hope there are more Malaysians of his calibre around. He's a pain in the neck for Jibby and company. Well done, Karim.
