The Methodist Girls School (Ipoh) Pesta Ria made a comeback after a 3-year hiatus. The fair, held on Saturday, April 10, was the second under the guidance of principal, Mrs Soot Mooy Ching. In her welcoming speech, she thanked donors, well-wishers and guests for their support and contributions. Stanley Lim of KLK Group was the guest-of-honour. The fair had over 40 stalls displaying an array of food and games for visitors. Even the PTA, Old Girls’ Association and the Board of Governors lent their support by running stalls of their own. Preparations began in January while coupon sales started in earnest during the Chinese New Year holidays. The initial target of RM80,000 was oversubscribed twice over.

Some RM150,000 was collected on the day of the launch. Besides raising funds to upgrade school facilities and the purchase of musical instruments, the pesta was also aimed at instilling good leadership and entrepreneurial skills in the students.
