To conserve is to protect from harm or damage by over-use. Conservation efforts are urgently needed to allow its rich past to contribute to its future. Syafiq, historical buildings and streets of IPOH present a more 'democratic' way to relate Ipoh's past lives. They stand as physical evidence of diverse people who have taken part in the city's growth.

Therefore all of us, should be proud of IPOH's heritage buildings. Stakeholders, owners, city council, state government and the general public should play a role in up keeping all these buildings. For a start, the state government and the city council should set up a "Conservation Trust" to obtain money, then start the ball rolling.

In that way, all of us could focus attention on saving the best of the past for the future.
