Ipoh Echo Congratulates Mayor on His Reappointment
Ipoh Mayor Datuk Roshidi Hashim, whose two-year term expires in June, has been reappointed for another two years.
Commenting on his reappointment, Datuk Roshidi said his priority would be to assist the Menteri Besar and the state government in realising the Aman Jaya approach in planning and the Government Transformational Programme, which has been conducted at both federal and state levels.
“I am personally committed in ensuring a clean, green and a vibrant city in line with the wishes of the state government. The Menteri Besar has also instructed me to implement projects concerning beautification, landscaping, lighting and the upgrading of roads in the city.”
“God willing,” he said, “I shall undertake these tasks with vigour and determination. The Menteri Besar has been to Wenzhou (China) and is impressed with the city’s landscape and its vehicle-friendly traffic system. These shall be the models for Ipoh.”
Datuk Roshidi took over as Mayor in 2008 when Datuk Mohamad Rafiai Moktar retired. Prior to his appointment, he was the council secretary.
He had also been the private secretary to former Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Mohamad Tajol Rosli Ghazali.

Dear Mayor,
Your reappointment as Mayor for the next 2 years is no surprise. Your capability and commitment in making Ipoh a beautiful landscape city will surly materialise. Your ‘Turun Padang’ programme is effective.
On behalf of the Residents Committee,
Taman Lim, Ipoh.
Dear Y.Bhg. Dato’ Haji Roshidi,
My HEARTIEST CONGRATULATIONS to you on your reappointment as the Datuk Bandar of Ipoh.
May I say I am the least surprised to hear of your appointment as I was very confident you will be reappointed based on my personal view on what you have done so far for Ipoh City…& one GOOD shining example is the new tarring of roads plus others. Even the roadside sweeper of DBI I spoke to told me how humble you were to make sure you shake their hands & inquire how things are going with them……….
It is definitely an heavy task, Dato’ to beautify the landscape & improve the traffic, but with your perseverance, dedication & commitment, Ipoh City will excel further.
Tahniah, Syabas & Congratulations……
Salam 1Malaysia,
