Forum Gets Going

| August 30, 2010 | 0 Comments

The forum to discuss “media’s role in enhancing non-governmental organisations’ ability to serve the community” co-sponsored by Perak Women for Women Society (PWW) and Ipoh City Watch (ICW) was well received by Ipohites. Over 60 participants attended the forum held at PWW’s one-stop centre along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Ipoh recently. The panellists consisted of media experts from the various print and electronic media organisations in the country – community, mainstream and online. Each spoke on how best to get the media to promote NGOs’ activities.

From the speakers’ standpoint it is obvious that the pull and push factor is not about what the NGOs stand for but what they can offer.

Incidentally, the participants represented some 16 NGOs in Ipoh. It was a record of sorts, as never before had such a large number of non-governmental organisations assembled under one roof. It augurs well for those concerned. A follow-up action is in order so as not to kill the enthusiasm generated.
