More than a year after launching the Polytechnic Transformation Plan, Polytechnic Ungku Omar witnessed the graduation of 3,084 students at its 40th Convocation ceremony. The ceremony was held over a two-day period days and spanned four sessions.
Dato’ Hj Mohlis Jaafar, Polytechnic Education Department Deputy Operations Director, Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohd Noh, Tenaga Nasional Bhd Cha
irman, Dato’ Samsudin Hashim, CEO of Perak State Development Corporation and Aminuddin Hashim, Darul Ridzuan Institute CEO graced the four sessions, respectively.
About 700 graduates were from the Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering Departments, which were the focal areas of the premier polytechnic. The Director’s Awards were also presented to students who excelled in both academics and co-curricular activities. The recipients from the January 2010 session were Mohd Hazri Abdan and Muhd Najib Aziz, while Muhd Farid Fazin and Muhd Noor Shafei were picked from the July 2010 session. All four received a plaque and a laptop each. Their parents were presented with gifts from the polytechnic.
