Malaysia’s premier mobile phone service provider, Celcom has consented to be a joint sponsor, along with Tourism Perak, to spearhead Visit Perak Year (VPY) 2012. Not wishing to be left behind, the telco has initiated the move for reasons of expedience. It foresees the benefits the partnership would bring.
A signing ceremony was held at the Secretariat Building Ipoh recently to formalise the deal. Dato’ Hamidah Osman, the Executive Councillor for Tourism and Celcom’s Regional Sales Manager, Farizad Khan signed and sealed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
“Celcom’s participation is a big boost to VPY 2012. Its huge customer base is the primary reason why this is viable,” Hamidah told reporters.
Farizad echoed Hamidah’s sentiments saying that the partnership will enable its 13 million clients to receive news and updates on VPY 2012 from time to time. Freebies in the form of extended-time calls and extra text messaging will be given to those who actively participate in the VPY 2012 programmes. It is a win-win situation one that will benefit both entities.
