Bercham Methodist Church - Bercham Free Clinic - Bercham Methodist ClinicIt was Dr Foo Joo Yee’s debut at the Bercham Methodist Klinik (BMK) recently. Run by the Bercham Methodist Church and declared open in June 2000 by then deputy minister of Home Affairs and now the Minister of Local Government Dato’ Seri Chor Chee Heung, the clinic has since been visited by more than 2,000 patients. Open on Mondays and Thursdays, the clinic is manned by  Doctors, nurses and receptionists who are all volunteers. Medical consultation is FOC and patients pay a token sum of RM5 for medicine.

When asked about his volunteer work, Dr Foo said, “At my age, it’s time to offer my services to the community and I thank the grace of God for being able to do so.”

The clinic also offers free legal consultation but on an appointment only basis. The lawyers are also volunteers. Ipoh Echo lauds the good work being done by the Bercham Methodist Church and the dedicated volunteers who make it all happen.
