St John Ambulance Perak’s trainers conducted a two-day Basic First-Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course for Perak Turf Club staff including the Stables, Tracks and Security departments. Manin Singh, secretary cum trainer from St John Ambulance Perak said this course was aimed at providing first-aid knowledge so that they could be well prepared for any emergency. The talk was given on respiration, fractures, blood circulation, wounds, cuts, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and bandages. The participants had practical demonstrations on fractures of legs and arms, and how to give artificial respiration. With the help of a dummy the participants were given a practical demonstration on the correct technique of applying mouth-to-mouth respiration.
