Hahahaha... this is a laughing stock year! Ipoh is now of the dirtiest town in Malaysia. Polo field has gone to the dogs. Only now the authority is working on some upgrading work in front of the Ipoh Railway Station. All the trees in the area has been chopped down, except for the Ipoh tree. We are NOT going green. The Birch Clock Tower, so much of upgrading work to be done, maybe even in June it cannot be completed. The list goes on, anyway who is the smart guy who suggest 2012 to be the VPY 2012?

The core anger of this comments, seem to be with this conclusion, "Ipoh used to have the reputation of being the cleanest city in all of Malaysia. Now it looks like we may have a new title: The Dirtiest."

My write up stopped at my recommendations."Consider fencing up the whole field, as this will deter unsavoury people from using this field and prevent cows from causing a mess in the field, especially at night."

Should anyone have any further comments with regards to the conclusion, kindly forward them directly to the Editor. Thanks.

The ETS shuttle between KL and Ipoh are a popular transport enjoyed by lots of people to the extent that the existing car park is inadequate. So while locating a Tourist Information Centre at the Ipoh Railway Station is the right thing, the problem of car park needs to be addressed.

It does not make sense to push for a homestay programme in Ipoh city. Homestays should be a programme for tourists to enjoy a rural area, where there are no hotels.

It is already past Valentine's Day. Isn't it sad that there are no welcome signages in Ipoh to VPY2012. If there are, sorry, I've missed them all.

The need and creation of gated and guarded communities clearly demonstrate the failure of the police force and the government. The police and MBI should really be ashamed that more and more neighborhoods are resorting to this action. What happened to the taxes that people are paying when the government has failed to do their basic duty of ensuring safety to the rakyat?

The Datuk Bandar should be lambasted and asked to resign for his petty reaction. He talks about regulations when the government has failed the rakyat. The government should live up to their responsibilities first.

What actions did he carry out to ensure the residents' safety? Now that the residents had done something to protect themselves, he says that they contravened regulations. If the Datul Bandar and the police had been carrying out their duties, there would be no need to erect barriers and employ private guards at Taman Kaya and many other neighborhoods in Ipoh.

Simply getting more interesting. Can't wait for the next episode. I wish Peter Lee's articles that have been appearing in Ipoh Echo can be turned into a TV drama series to highlight the importance of writing a will before one passes away.

Who do we blame for the shordy job. Of course the MBI. Why? Because there has been no supervision by the MBI officers. This goes to say that there is no work discipline at MBI. This is not a blanket viewpoint, it is only directed to the officers supervising this job. Shame.

Steven is correct. Any existing landfill can be recovered using modern technology. In 2010, an environment-focused NGO based in Ipoh had demonstrated to MBI the effectiveness of using microbial biotechnology to remediate landfills and rivers, resolving social issues like odor and leachate, and removing harmful landfill gases. The land is treated and can be safely used for other development. The offer to MBI is still open.

Read the article on Lim Gardens. Sad to say that the writer only focused on the area opposite his house. He has not really going to other areas to see that how clean they are. MBI is doing a good job on the grass cutting, removal of kitchen garbage and the household items and garden trimmings.
It is even sad to say that the Residents are responsible in throwing rubbish at the corners and junctions of roads. It is really shameful when educated residents behave as with no conscience in keeping the environment clean. Why cant the Residents dispose their own garden refuse on their own by using the services of the grass cutters who own lorrys.
Of course there are drains that need to be repaired or replaced. Has the writer gone around Lim Gardens to see that 4 areas were repaired of the drains in the year 2012.One of it is Kandy Cresent where the whole drain system was upgraded.
I understand that the Dato bandar is expected to come to Lim Garden on 7 March 2012, subject to confirmation, with the Councillor for Zone 8, Dato Daniel Tay.
The Residents Committe of Lim Gardens will be handling the visit of the Mayor and during his visit all the issues with photographs will be handed over to the Mayor. The writer on the Lim Garden Issue could make himself available on the day of the visit of the Mayor.
I wish that the Resident play their part in keeping the Taman clean. MBI will cooperate when approached, though they are slow in responding.
