The Hainanese community’s Perak Qiong Hai Association will be celebrate its 60th Anniversary next year on 5 May 2014.
To create awareness of their upcoming anniversary it has scheduled early celebrations beginning with their “Suki Passion Green Pedal Fellowship Bicycle Ride” on 29 December 2013 at Bukit Kinding Resort followed by a talk on “Strata Titles and Old Shop Lots” given by its Chairman Ir Ho Koon Kan on 3January at its association premises at 102-104, Theatre Street.
According to Ho, 60 years in the Chinese calendar is very auspicious. He explained that the artist impression of 60 was an Arabic character of 60 conjoined with the equivalent Chinese character of 60. For Chinese 60 represents one complete cycle of life. “In olden days it was considered old but in these modern times it is the beginning of life”.
Ho added that there will be more events before the main celebration on 5 May 2014 and announcements will be forthcoming at the appropriate time.
