KPerak Inc, with the collaboration of Yayasan Bina Upaya Darul Ridzuan (YBU), is planning a long-term strategy to provide pro bono (free) ICT-based training courses to the adopted children of Perak Menteri Besar.
According to KPerak Inc Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Nazaruddin Mohd Yusoff, they decided on this as these children should be a shining example of today’s technology, besides being agents of education development in Perak.
“In the past, KPerak had provided certain ICT programmes for these kids. Moving forward, the agency together with YBU, will now draw up plans that would enable them to organise ICT-based carnivals at selected schools. At the same time, they get to pick up new ICT skills as well,” Mohd Nazaruddin said during the handover ceremony of computers under its KPerak Computer Aid Programme at the Perak Techno Trade Centre in Meru recently.
Computers were donated to eight adopted children of Perak Menteri Besar for outstanding achievements in the recent Peperiksaan Menengah Rendah (PMR) examination. The function was also attended by BAIDURI Chairperson, Datin Seri DiRaja Saripah Zulkifli, State Executive Councillor for Education and Higher Education, Science, Environment and Green Technology, Dr Mohd Amin Zakaria, and Chief Executive of YBU, Dato’ Ismail Saffian.
According to Saripah, who is also the adoptees’ ‘mother’, this was the second time that computers were donated by KPerak Inc. “Hopefully, they would put the computers to good use. We’ll definitely continue with this sponsorship programme in the near future,” she mused.
One of the recipients, NurAmirah Ahmad Yaacob who obtained 8As, was grateful to receive the computer, as her existing one is out of order. “I can now revise my lessons better, surf the Internet for information and do research on certain school subjects,” she told reporters when met.
