Fourteen students from Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah (RPT) Ipoh, scored straight As in all 12 subjects in the 2013 Sijil Peperiksaan Malaysia (SPM) examination. Among them were twins, Nur Hakimah Azlan and Nur Hanisah Azlan, from Tasek, Ipoh.
“We’re never pressured to do well in our studies. Our parents seldom make comparisons between us,” said elder sibling, Nur Hakimah. Their results have spurred them to aim higher and they intend on pursuing a university education, with the ambition of becoming dentists.
Another student also scored 12As. Nor Afiqah Faizal, 17, from Teluk Intan, attributed her success to constant revision and support from her doting parents. “As students, we have to concentrate in class and take notes. We participated in group studies too. I am indebted to my teachers for their guidance and inspiration.”
Principal of Sekolah Raja Perempuan Taayah, Noor Aini Zainal Abidin, was all smiles as the school was adjudged as one of the top performers in Kinta District. According to Noor Aini, RPT is a boarding school under the ambit of the Perak Department of Religious Affairs.
“I am delighted that the hard work put in by both students and teachers have achieved the desired results,” she told Ipoh Echo.
A total of 135 students sat for the SPM Examination last year. Nine students scored straight As in all 12 subjects in 2012. The results for 2013 have been most encouraging and in terms of numbers, RPT is second best after Sekolah Menengah Tungku Abdul Rahman, Ipoh.
