Sultan Azlan Shah Gold Medal
Muhd Izzat Zakwan Mohd Zahari from SMK Sultan Yussuf, Batu Gajah was awarded the Sultan Azlan Shah Royal Gold Medal. When met by the media, he expressed surprise and happiness at being selected to receive the prestigious award.
Speaking after the award-giving ceremony at the school recently, he said, “Besides paying attention in class, I communicate regularly with my teachers, to increase my knowledge as I believe knowledge comes from teachers.”
The fourth of seven siblings, Muhd Izzat began his Form One at the school in 2006 and completed his Form Six in 2012. He then continued his tertiary education at Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Tg Malim. “I am currently pursuing a degree in sports medicine at UPSI and hope to make it my career one day,” he added.
The Regent of Perak, Raja Dr Nazrin Shah and his consort, Raja Puan Besar of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim attended the ceremony. Also present were Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, State Secretary, Dato’ Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan, Perak State Education Department Deputy Director, Mohd Idris Ramli and the school’s principal, Saidi Ngah Abd. Said.
Raja Nazrin Shah presented a total of 153 awards to top performers of the school.
