Malaysia’s Entrepreneurs’ Development Association or PUMM (Persatuan Usahawan Maju Malaysia) was first established in year 1993 by a group of young entrepreneurs. Today, the association has members from all over the country including Sabah and Sarawak.
The association’s Perak chapter honoured its new committee members for the 2014/2015 term at the Ipoh Country Club recently. The installation ceremony brought together some 300 people mainly members of the Ipoh business community. Present at the event were Tan Sri Chan Ko Youn, the adviser to the Menteri Besar and the President of PUMM, Dato’ Tony Looi.
According to the Chairman of PUMM Perak, Lim Kee Siang, the association plans to set up an agency to nurture aspiring young entrepreneurs by creating new business opportunities and providing them with the right kind of information. “We intend on setting up a one-stop centre to provide assistance to young entrepreneurs who wish to start a business but lack funds and the information needed,” he said.
The association will form more branches in the country to reach out to the business community. It will go on a recruiting drive soon to encourage more young entrepreneurs, both male and female, to join the association.
