Hard on the heels of the on-going Perak Food Festival in the month of May, Malaysia Association of Hotels (MAH) and selected hotels and homestays have chipped by promoting Perak’s signature dishes such as ‘Laksa Buyong Kuala Kangsar’, Dalcha Murungai Curry and other mouth-watering dishes.

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts and Cultures, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi, who officiated at the event, congratulated the effort taken by MAH to promote Perak’s signature dishes at Ibis Styles hotel on Monday, May 11.

“There’s an increasing number of investors keen in building hotels and entertainment outlets in Perak. This indicates the potential we have had in the tourism industry,” said Nolee to the media.

Sixteen dishes were presented at the launch including Ipoh’s signature beverage, Old Town white coffee made by Impiana Hotel Ipoh, who also prepared their famous ‘rendang tok’.

Other dishes presented were oxtail assam pedas (Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites), ayam garam (Casuarina@Meru), curry mee (Lost World of Tambun) and penjan ubi kayu (Excelsior Hotel). While tasting the dishes, guests were entertained to traditional dances performance by a dancing troupe from PORT (People of Remarkable Talent).

In view of the recent Sultan Nazrin’s coronation, Nolee hoped visitors will take the opportunity to explore and sample Perak’s dishes available in participating hotels and homestays.
