It was a lively night of celebration heightened by Chinese traditional drumming, powerful Chinese opera and endless toasts as Perak Chinese Assembly Hall celebrated its auspicious 88th year with a dinner at Sun Lee How Fook Restaurant on Monday, November 9.
On the same night with a crowd of over 300, its women’s division completed its 18-year milestone while its youth division celebrated its 17th anniversary.
To date, Perak Chinese Assembly Hall has 186 corporate/association members and a total of 800 members in the state.
In conjunction with the annual dinner, a donation of over RM100,000 was collected for its activity fund.
“We are an NGO by the Chinese for the Chinese besides providing service to the public. The Perak Hokkien Association, Perak Teochew Association and Perak Guangdong Association are all under our wing,” Voon Chee Wai, the executive secretary of Perak Chinese Assembly Hall highlighted to Ipoh Echo.
Also present were guest of honour Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon, Executive Councillor for Health, Public Transport, Non-Islamic Affairs, National Integration and New Villages and Tan Sri Pheng Yin Huah, President of the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia.
Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming issue as Ipoh Echo will be doing an exclusive one-on-one with Dato’ Chai Voi Keong, the President of the Perak Chinese Assembly Hall for more details on this organisation!
