St George’s Institution, Taiping centennial celebration dinner on Saturday, December 19 saw the largest turnout ever in its 100-year history. The gathering, held in the school compound, attracted over 1500 former students from all over the world, as well as those from in and around Taiping.
The celebration signified a century of existence of St George’s Institution. From its humble beginning in 1915, the school has become a well-known institution achieving academic excellence providing education to thousands of Malaysian youths over the period of its existence.
“Our Centennial Celebration is indeed a moment of great joy. As Georgians and Lasallians we’re proud that we’ve made a difference to the lives of the children and youths in Taiping over the years. Today, as we launch our year-long events and festivities, let’s not forget what we’ve received and what we need to hand over as our legacy to the young in our school and the children and youths who will come to our Home,” said Brother Anthony Rogers FSC, Director of La Salle Schools Malaysia.
“It’s also a time for the La Salle Brothers and the Lasallian Family in Malaysia to express our sincere gratitude to all Georgians, the students, the school’s leadership, the Boards and the Alumni Associations for their years of services to your alma mater and to our nation, Malaysia and its people. As we continue to believe that Lasallian Education is distinctive because it has informed our minds, formed and affected our hearts and transformed our lives and being,” he added.
Invitees enjoyed a fun-filled evening and were entertained to songs and dances which kept them in the right mood to eat and interact.
