The Chartered Tax Institute of Malaysia (CTIM), Perak branch held its Perak Tax Forum 2016 at Syeun Hotel recently where the issue of the evolving tax landscape was the main highlight of the day.
Attendees of the forum were enlightened on the current issues in the tax world by known speakers such as Datuk Harjit Singh Sindu, the CEO of HSS Advisory Sdn Bhd who talked about the tax incentive for SMEs. Guests were also briefed on managing key risks in withholding tax, given by Thenesh Kanna from Thenesh, Renga & Associates.
Guest of honour, Tan Sri Chang Ko Youn congratulated CTIM Perak’s efforts to keep its members updated through its engagement initiatives and as a link and intermediary between revenue collecting agencies, tax practitioners and taxpayers.
“We currently face a number of challenges to our national revenue. These challenges include the uncertain conditions in the global financial and real economies as well as the sharp fall in the price of petroleum and other commodities. With that, I wish CTIM Perak will continue its successful organisation of the forum,” said Chang during the opening ceremony.
