Where Our Future’s Laid

Running on the theme, “Where our future’s laid”, the second Honours Day of Fairview International School Ipoh unfolded in glitter and grandeur on Thursday, June 23 at Syeun Hotel’s Grand Ballroom.

For the young students, aged 4 to 16, the event marked the threshold in their lives, as they closed the door on their lower year level and opened a new door towards higher learning. For teachers, it brought a sense of satisfaction, as they marvelled at how much their students had achieved. For parents, it was a partial fulfilment of a dream for their children who were awarded in four categories: Outstanding Effort, Exemplary Performance, Global Citizen and Token of Appreciation.

Student representative, Hor Qin Yue from Grade 9, had this to say, “One thing that makes me very proud is that Fairview International School Ipoh is the only certified Eco School in Perak.”

“For Ipoh campus, our initial enrolment stood at 25. Now it’s almost a hundred. Our dynamic growth is strong and positive, from a single campus in Wangsa Maju, Kuala Lumpur to six worldwide campuses,” Natalya Krassilnikova, head of Ipoh campus said.

Another highlight of the evening was a mock cheque presentation of RM5000 to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Harapan Baru.

“We at Fairview nurture our students to be job-creators rather than job-seekers,” Dr Lim Chia Sien, the chief academic officer for Fairview International schools cum Group Vice President said.

Lim, who has over 20 years of working experience in education, told Ipoh Echo, “A good student should be someone who contributes to the society, realises his or her full potential, with the skills and humility to learn continuously.”

Lim’s one precious advice to students, “Explore what you want to be in life, understand your identity and develop emotional-management skills.”

The joyful occasion ended with a concert.
