Quest International University (QIUP) took the initiative and launched the ‘Green For Ipoh’ recently at Kong Heng Square where they used recyclable items and decorated this hot tourist spot with it.
Together with Ipoh City Council (MBI), Tourism Perak, Sekeping Kong Heng, Burps & Giggles, OHU Father and Son Furniture Sdn Bhd, Alumni of Chung Ling Perak, Evolve Creative, L&N Office Systems Sdn Bhd, Sanwa Group of companies, L&A Printing, Sunrise Marketing Sdn Bhd and Team Keris Berhad, ‘Green For Ipoh’ is part of QIUP’s corporate society responsibility (CSR) where they have been putting a strong commitment to reduce its carbon footprint and engaging the city’s underprivileged youth in mentoring activities.
The event, that was designed and run by the students of QIUP, consisted of an exhibition of art pieces made from recyclable items such as plastic bottles, cans and plastic containers collected around the city of Ipoh.
The Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir who officiated the event, applauded QIUP and its partners’ hard efforts into making Ipoh a greener city.
“It is amazing to see individuals and corporate groups taking part to improve the image of Ipoh. We’ve been preparing hard for the Visit Perak year next year and this is definitely an effort deserving to be acknowledged,” said Zambry in his opening remarks.
Through such events, QIUP hopes to educate and draw the attention of not only Ipohites but also tourists who come to see how the great is the potential in using recyclable materials.
