City of Colours

Executive Councillor for Tourism, Arts, Culture, Multimedia and Communications, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi said that Kampar has experienced rapid development and has the potential to be a tourism city.

“Kampar is renowned since 130 years ago as a tin mining district. It has a lot of historical treasures and a community from all walks of life.

“The Battle of Kampar site will be developed as the latest tourist attraction in Perak. Kampar is also an entrepreneur and education hub.

“Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abd Kadir’s idea to brand Kampar as the ‘City of Colours’ is apt because Kampar is already famous for its many historical sites,” Nolee told reporters after launching Festival WOW Kampar at Sport@Grand Kampar on Friday, March 24.

Festival WOW Kampar was organised by students of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and the Kampar District Office along with Tourism Perak.

“This is a community programme that will unite the people around Kampar. It is a platform to promote Kampar and indirectly will spice up Visit Perak Year (VPY) 2017.

“VPY 2017 not only contributes to the state tourism sector, it also benefits the local economy. Perak has been accredited by the Statistics Department for four consecutive years with the highest number of domestic tourists. In 2015 the state recorded almost eight million visitors,” she exclaimed.
