Clad in black, people from all walks of life thronged Istana Ar-Ridhuan, Jalan Raja DiHilir, Ipoh to pay their last respects to the late Raja Puan Besar Perak, Raja NorMahani Raja Shahar Shah.
A solemn atmosphere engulfed the palace. Sorrow was clearly visible on the faces of many who were there. They included royalties, politicians, dignitaries, civil servants and members of the public.
Among them were Sultan and Sultanah of Kedah Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah and Tengku Maliha Tengku Ariff, Raja Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah, Tengku Puan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah MaimunahIskandariah Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, Tunku Temenggung Kedah Tunku PuteriIntan Syafinaz Sultan Abdul Halim and the Sultanah of Terengganu Nur Zahirah.
Also present were Perak Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri DiRaja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and his wife Datin Seri SaripahZulkifli, and Perak exco members.
Raja NorMahani, 75, passed away in Petaling Jaya, Selangor on Tuesday, October 3 at 5.07 pm. She will be laid to rest at the Royal Mausoleum in Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar after Asar prayers on Wednesday, October 4.
She was the Deputy President of Malaysia Girl Guides Association.
