Jointly organised by Ipoh Auto City Sdn Bhd and Malaysia Singapore Vintage Car Register, ‘Subaru Shijo Carnival’ exhibited over 60 classic cars, including personal collections of Raja Muda Perak.
Raja Jaafar surprised spectators when he arrived in his immaculately-restored cream-coloured Triumph TR4. He was warmly greeted upon entering the show ground.
After the launch Raja Jaafar took part in the Gymkhana competition driving his classic Triumph TR4. This was the highlight of the show. Those taking part were mainly members of the Perak Classic Car Club whose cars were on display.
“It’s a step back in time seeing these old cars, some of which are almost 50 years old,” said Muhammad Hasri Shahrudin who came with his two daughters.
Attendees made the most of the opportunity presented to take photos of the old cars and selfies with the Raja Muda. The cars on display, among others, included a Jaguar E-Type, a Triumph Spitfire, a Volvo and a couple of MGAs.
Earlier in the morning a convoy of 54 Subaru Shijos left Symphony Suites Hotel for Chemor and back. After a short ride around town, the sport utility vehicles (SUVs) converged at MBI Square for the carnival. Spectators were allowed to test drive this latest Subaru model and make orders in situ.
