Lhoist’s New Limestone Plant
Set to be Asia’s most modern limestone mining and manufacturing facility to cater to the growing demand, Lhoist (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd recently had its opening ceremony of a new limestone plant located deep in Temoh, on December 8.
The 34-hectare fully automated plant will serve as a platform for the company to seek opportunities to explore new markets within Asia. The Belgium-based group has been expanding its markets and gearing up to face the rising demand in the Asian region.
The new and touted to be the most modern limestone plant in Asia is equipped with advanced technologies in lime mining and manufacturing, complete with loading and packaging bay area.
“As a proud industrialist, Lhoist is eyeing significant growth in Asia for the next five years and the new plant in Tapah is instrumental to our growth plans for this region,” said Baron Jean-Pierre Berghmans, the chairman of Lhoist Group during the ceremony.
Officiated by Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, the new Lhoist plant will also help to raise the growth of the local marketplace and provide employment opportunities within the vicinity or state, with 60% of the new plant’s staff being Perakeans.
“The state truly appreciates investors and partners like Lhoist Group and the vital roles the play in various aspects of the local state’s development. We are trying to position Perak as an attractive state to both local and international investors to explore business opportunities,” said Zambry during the affair.
