A Club for All

Ipoh City Hockey Club (ICHC) held a family day on Sunday, April 29 at the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Stadium, Ipoh. It was the first social activity organised by the club.

Members, along with their families and friends, were present to either participate or watch an interesting party game which ran on the theme, “Married vs Bachelors”. It was a fun-filled game aimed at breaking barriers between individuals.

“We’re a very active club and have participated in several sporting events and matches. Other than playing in the Perak hockey league, we played friendlies with teams from Penang Sports Club, Prodigy KL and teams from Uzbekistan and Myanmar. We even partook in the Borneo Tournament last year. However, this is the first event we have organised on a major scale this year,” said Gurmeet Singh Gill, President of ICHC.

The club has grown considerably from the nine they had when they first started in 2015. “We now have over 30 members and the number is growing,” Gurmeet told Ipoh Echo.

The passion of the members is evident, as the club practices every evening at Padang Ipoh.

“Most of us are working people. We all chip in to help maintain the club. Plus we get good support from friends and well-wishers,” Gurmeet added.

ICHC welcomes all hockey lovers to join the club. Those interested can contact Gurmeet Singh: 016 291 9197 or Jaswinder Singh: 019 457 4660 for details.
