Established on October 1, 1955, Headquarters 2nd Malaysian Infantry Brigade celebrated its 63rd birthday on Sunday, October 28.
Held at the playing field of Syed Putra Camp, Tambun, it was attended by almost 2000 personnel consisting of officers, other ranks, family members and students from a nearby tahfiz (religious) school.
After a lively aerobic warm-up, the participants took part in a number of people-centric games (sukan rakyat) such as sack race and the run-and-tagging game. After lunch, the much anticipated lucky draw took centrestage.
Former soldiers, who were wounded when in harness, were duly honoured with gifts. This highlight was followed soon after by the cutting of a turmeric-laced-glutinous rice cake, a blessing for future good tidings.
Brig-Gen Datuk Mohd Nizam bin Hj Jaffar, the brigade commander was in attendance along with his unit commanders and staff officers.
