Making Ipoh a Shoe City
The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Perak State Development Corporation (PKNP) and Jimmy Couture Trend Sdn Bhd to make Ipoh a Shoe City was held at the MB office on Thursday, November 29.
“The RM100-million Ipoh Shoe City project was started in August 2014. It involved the construction of 128 factories on a 10.8-hectare site at the Pengkalan Light Industries Park,” said Mohd Ariff Yeop Ishak, Chief Executive Officer of PKNP.
“This will provide an opportunity for youths to enter the shoe-manufacturing field, because technical and vocational education and training is one of the state’s main focuses. We plan to set up a shoe academy for young entrepreneurs,” said Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal to reporters following the signing ceremony.
Professor Dr Jimmy Choo, co-founder of Jimmy Choo Ltd, was in attendance.
