Orange The World (25 Nov – 10 Dec 2019)
The issue of gender, women and children violence is very close to the Good Shepherd Services (GSS). GSS position is very firm in that all girls reserve the honour and rights to enjoy all aspects of human rights. This includes the opportunity to expand their potential to the fullest.
Every year from November 25 to December 10, GSS conducts the Orange the World (OTW) Campaign – Say “No” to Violence Against Women and Children. This 16-day activism campaign which includes public awareness talks, signature campaigns and public events forms part of their advocacy efforts to raise awareness on the issue of gender-based violence. This international campaign starts with the International for Elimination of Violence against Women which falls on November 25 and ends on December 10 with International Human Rights Day.
The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Orange The World: Generation Equality Stands against Rape!’ will be held in Ipoh to commemorate the recent establishment of our Community Service Centre in Buntong.
To kick-off this campaign and to raise public awareness about the issue of violence experienced by women and children, we will be organising an Orange The World Charity Run on November 24 (Sunday) at 7am. This morning Run will start and finish at the Indian Recreation Club. The Run is expected to draw about 500 participants comprising children and adults. In this respect, we are collaborating with the various primary and secondary schools in and around the vicinity to promote participation in the Run. The school children will complete in the 3km run.
The Men Open, Women Open, Men Junior/Senior Veteran & Women Junior/Senior Veteran categories will be a 5km run.
