Saturday, December 14 saw the launch of the Perak International Skydiving Championship (PISC 2019) by Menteri Besar’s Adviser, Dato’ Zainol Fadzi, at The Bistro, Impiana Hotel, Ipoh.
Organised by VAT 69 of the Royal Malaysian Police and sanctioned by the Perak government, PISC 2019 is the first-ever international skydiving championship held in Perak. It was also to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of VAT 69.
Over 90 contestants from Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, and South Korea are participating in the championship beginning December 15 till 22.
The three categories contested are Accuracy Landing, Formation Skydiving and Canopy Formation. The prize pool for the championship is RM30,000.
According to Senior Assistant Commissioner Abdul Razak Mohd Yusof, the championship will be the benchmark for future competition.
Zainol thanked the Perak state government for its support.
“We rarely see events such as this at Polo Ground. It’ll be an added attraction to Perak. Polo Ground is a strategic place as it is near the airport and hotels,” Zainol added.
A new hashtag #PISC2019 has been created specifically for the event.
