Sharpened Word: Batik Girl & How It Conquers The World (8 Feb 2020)
Sharpened Word is proud to bring to Ipoh Irwan Junaidi, the creator and director of the multi-award winning short animation “Batik Girl”, to share his experience and journey with us.
Batik Girl is an international award-winning animated movie. The 9-minute animation has certainly attracted a lot of publicity since its launch last year and received rave reviews, not to mention the animation has been shortlisted in multi film festivals across the globe.
Synopsis: “Struggling to cope after a recent tragedy, a young girl finds herself drawn into a magical world of Batik printing”.
Director Irwan Junaidi will join Hassan Muthalib, “Bapak Animasi”, and both of them will go the whole nine yards and give us an overall view of the local animation industry.
It will be interesting to hear their respective takes on the evolution and development of the local animation industry as both of them come from a different era of visual story creation, with the more senior Pak Hassan now establishing himself as a renowned movie historian and reviewer.
This is a session especially suited for those who are keen to get involved in the industry and those who want to know more about animation. Again, the topic will be centred on storytelling and creativity, or perhaps creative storytelling?
Entrance by donation.
Don’t miss the unique opportunity!
