This Pizzeria In Ipoh Will Be Your New Favorite!
By Vivien Lian
These are no ordinary pizzas but all are freshly made from sourdough. You might wonder why go for sourdough when you’re fine with eating conventional wheat pizza. Feeling bloated and gassy after consuming bread? You might want to switch to sourdough-based bread. Most leavened breads use commercial baker’s yeast to help the dough rise while traditional sourdough fermentation relies on “wild yeast” and lactic acid bacteria that are naturally present in flour to leaven the bread. Lactic acid bacteria can be found in several other fermented foods including yoghurt, kefir, sauerkraut and kimchi. We have been told numerous times how good fermented foods are for digestion and controlling your blood sugar level. It is also lower in gluten, making it friendly to people who have stomach pains, diarrhoea, heartburn or constipation whenever they eat commercial wheat products.
We strongly recommend the Golden Indulgence pizza where you get the best of both worlds, sweet and savoury. The combination of banana and kaya may not sound exciting but having both on your pizza, one bite is all it takes to get you hooked. Not forgetting the no ordinary Hawaiian Pizza where the texture and flavours of their homemade chicken luncheon meat beats plain chicken strips. If you are a vegetarian and all you get to eat outside is Garden Pizza, you are spoilt for choice here – Margarita Pizza, Supreme Vege Pizza, Wild Mushroom Pizza and Golden Indulgence Pizza. Meat lovers can also try their Slow Cooked Lamb Pizza, Satay Chicken Pizza and Egg Benny Pizza. For their Delightful Pizza Dinner Set on weekdays, 6pm-9pm, at RM25 per pax for a table of two, you’ll be getting a starter each, 1 pizza of choice, each a glass of fruit juice and 30% off for any slice of cake.
Did we just mention kefir? It is one of the sacred drinks in the Keto bible that Keto practitioners swear by. Made from milk fermented for 24 hours with kefir grains while here at Yin’s they use the same culture in making sourdough. Kefir shares similar characteristics to yoghurt but with a lighter consistency, which makes it suitable for drinking. Pictured above is Banana Avocado Kefir.
They also serve all-day entrees like Open-faced Focaccia, succulent and juicy chicken slices which are well-marinated, served on focaccia bread spread with mustard sauce and papaya tomato dipping sauce for fried root vegetables. Come for brunch from 10am-3pm and you will just have to add RM3 for a cup of coffee or tea. As for lunch, you will only have to add RM 2 for a Soup of The Day and an Iced Lemon Tea for any order of pasta or entree dishes.
Check out their homemade sourdough-based baked goods sold at affordable prices and their nut jam which are all made with coconut oil. A healthy life is not that costly.
Yin’s Sourdough serves a variety of cakes daily. Pictured here are their Apple Pie and Lemon Pie. Don’t miss out on their D24 Durian Burnt Cheesecake and also Carrot Walnut which both are the hot-selling items of the cafe. They are currently offering Tea Time Special from 3pm-6pm where you get 50% off for any drinks when you order a slice of cake.
