Due to UTAR’s excellence in teaching and research, UTAR obtained a spot at 181 in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asia University Rankings 2020. Ranked 101- 200 in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019, UTAR has been recognised as one of the fastest growing universities. As of today, the university is ranked second best university in the country by the Times Higher Education.
Besides just placing the university at a top spot, UTAR graduates are also entitled to higher job employability as it is ranked 251- 300 in the QS World University Graduates Employability Rankings 2020. Within the rates of 95% to 97%, UTAR graduates are well received by most industries.
Based in Sungai Long and Kampar, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) was founded in June 2002. The university was built as a not- for- profit private higher education institution and it is solely owned by UTAR Education Foundation. The university holds a strong reputation as a dedicated university in achieving excellence in teaching and research.
Since its inaugural convocation in 2005, UTAR has graduated over 61000 students. Now, the university holds a total of 22000 students.
Currently offering more than 110 academic programmes in nine faculties, three centres and three institutes, the programmes are all approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE) with most of them having obtained full accreditation status from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
Apart from the programmes offered in Foundation Studies, Bachelor’s, Masters and PhD, UTAR has also recently launched two new undergraduate programmes namely Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Electronic Systems and Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Industrial Management.
‘Providing Quality Education to all,’ is the main aim of the university, a vision on which it was founded. To accommodate a large population of students, the university has built 2 campuses.
The award- winning Kampar campus is located off the North- South highway while the Sungai Long Campus is in Bandar Sungai Long, a main township in Kajang. Both the campuses are located in a strategic and convenient location, surrounded by affordable eateries, banks and hypermarkets.
Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman also offers other facilities such as ICT facilities, wireless campus, library, laboratories and workshops, gym, cafeteria, bus service, healthcare service, counselling and guidance service.
With more than 400 international partners from 28 economics, UTAR students are given various opportunities to go abroad for educational exchanges as well as internships. The university believes that through such exchanges, students may acquire inter- cultural exchange as well to promote diversity.
