Yong knows many of the Club members well, but none so well as Ah Foo who ‘dances’ with her almost every day. Although a wealthy tin mine owner, he has never really stopped acting like the coolie he once was. A regular gambler and Opium smoker, he can neither read nor write – but he can count!
Today Ah Foo is at the gambling table and has just had a really big win. It won’t be long before he is spending time (and money) with Yong.
