Budget hotel operators in Perak are hard-hit by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Chairman of Perak’s Malaysia Budget Hotel Association (MyBHA), Zamari Muhyi expressed disappointment with the stimulus package announced recently by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as it overlooked the ailing hospitality industry.
“MyBHA welcomes the government’s offer of financial assistance but, I feel, it doesn’t address the hospitality sector adequately,” he lamented.
According to Zamari, hotel operators had to bear operational cost and staff salaries at a time when business doesn’t generate income.
“They’re forced to temporarily halt operating and wait for an improvement in the situation. This has caused employees to lose their income sources,” he sighed.
“Hopefully, the government will review the stimulus package for the benefit of the hospitality industry,” Zamari remarked.
