The Ipoh City Council (MBI) Retirees’ Association (PERMAI) has contributed food boxes for 105 chosen MBI retirees on May 19, following the enforcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) .
Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin stated that the contribution involves PERMAI members who are having financial troubles due to the CMCO, which also disrupted economic activities in town.
“Apart from the welfare of post-retirement members, PERMAI was established as a platform for them to connect with each other,” he explained.
The association was incepted in 2009, during the tenure of the former mayor, Dato’ Roshidi Hashim. To date, PERMAI has around 170 members.
The association’s president, Dato’ Mohamad Rafiai Moktar expressed gratitude towards MBI for their tremendous support.
“With MBI’s assistance, we’ve successfully organized programmes tailored for fellow retirees,” he said. “Hopefully, we will garner similar support in keeping the welfare works to other pensioners going.”
