Black House – Perak Arts Platform
People of Remarkable Talents (PORT) introduced its latest initiative, the Black House as a local arts centre for Perakeans.
General Manager of PORT, Nur Hanim Dato’ Mohamed Khairuddin explained that the establishment of Black House was in line with the current digital technology trend.
“The pandemic has led us to think of a new method to present artistic creations to the outside world. The Black House contains spaces for art activities such as a recording studio to present musical elements in the form of video documents to highlight Perakean talents. Various genres of arts will be presented through high quality artistic creations. All the masterpieces will be uploaded to social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and more,” she said during an interview at PORT recently.
Besides the recording studio, other spaces include an art studio, a dark room for photography, a common room and the Portdistro, a small shop featuring artistic products and collections under the Silver Trails of Art, Research and Techniques (START) project.
Kick-started by Black House, START is a video documentation series published by PORT in collaboration with Tourism Perak, Kraftangan Perak and Digital Perak.
Another programme held at the Black House was the Panggung Project which aimed to highlight singing talents and musical groups.
“The Panggung Project is organised by PORT in collaboration with the Perak Department for Arts and Culture and RTM. We highlight two young talents, A. Rozainie Razali who has similar vocals with famous 60s singer, Ahmad Jais and Mohammad Yassin Mohd Daud who has a similar singing style as A.Ramli,” she shared.
