The state government said that the Jalan Persekutuan FT 185 Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands passageway is safe to be used by the public.
According to the State Executive Councillor for Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transportation, Dato’ Zolkafly Harun, a viral post regarding the issue was just using outdated pictures in social media.
“The Public Works Department (JKR) has performed inspections on the passageway and there are indeed slopes which resulted from erosion caused by rainwater and valleys around the area,” he told reporters today (August 5) at the state secretariat building.
“‘Tie back wall’ and ‘micropile slab’ repair works had been done on a part of the fallen slopes. Further inspections have shown that there are no longer any sediments or cracks found around the passageway area,” Zolkafly added.
He mentioned that the state government has applied for a budget allocation of RM120 million to further repair and upgrade the passageway.
“Hopefully, our application will be approved as soon as possible,” Zolkafly expressed. “In the meantime, the Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands passageway is guaranteed safe to be used by everyone.”
