Anderson School Community Project

By SH Ong

Students from the Interact Club of Anderson School Ipoh undertook a project to upgrade one of the toilets in their school as their Community Service Project this year. The toilet in Block J of the school was in a deplorable condition with broken doors, leaky taps and clogged drainage.

The noble project costing about RM4,500 was almost impossible to proceed until Rotarian Advisors, Mr. Edwin Seibel Nathan and Mr. K.C. Chan, stepped in with a contribution from the old boys of Anderson School (batch 1987). To raise more funds, the Interactors sold newly designed Interact t-shirts and face masks for a profit. To further cut costs, the members did the painting and minor repairs themselves under the guidance of their teachers, Mr. Balakrishnan  and Pn. Carmichael.

The repairs started on August 19, the students working through after-school hours and a public holiday before completing the project on August 27. A good, clean job by the Rotarians and students.
