Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu urged teachers to be a source of inspiration for students in creating a generation with high personal values, discipline and immunity to negative influences.
In his speech, he said that an education system planned in line with the rapid advancement of information and communications technology (ICT) is able to ensure attainment of the National Education Philosophy (NEP).
“Teachers are entrusted in the provision of smooth education to students, particularly Generation Alpha, given that they’re exposed to sophisticated ICT via mobile devices such as smartphones,” Faizal stated during the Perak Council of School Principals’ 33rd Convention and Conference at Impiana Hotel recently.
“Exposure towards ICT will surely demand changes to the education system as a whole, which has become much more challenging in recent years,” he added. “Educators, especially teachers, must be prepared to accept changes in line with current technological progress.”
Also present was the director of the State Education Department, Dr Mohd Suhaimi Mohamed Ali, who’s also a patron of the school principals’ council.
Faizal also congratulated teachers who ensured that students weren’t left behind in their studies, even during the Movement Control Order (MCO).
“Educators’ relentless spirits in carrying out their responsibilities to teach students, whether remotely or physically, are very much appreciated and worth exemplifying,” he expressed.
“Also, thank you to teachers who kept themselves in high alert towards students’ health and safety in schools,” Faizal mentioned. “SOP adherence is at its highest level and hopefully, it is continued during the new norm to ensure everyone’s well-being.”
