Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu urges the public to remain calm and patient regarding the ongoing political turmoil in Perak.
He said so while commenting on his position as the Menteri Besar after failing to obtain majority support from Perak state assembly members (ADUN) due to a motion of confidence against him yesterday.
“Rest assured, citizens need not worry about the outcome towards the state’s administration.
“Frankly speaking, I was quite sad from not having to table the 2021 State Budget which was supposed to take place yesterday.
“There was great news to be shared via the budget, especially towards civil servants.
But given the current circumstances, we can only stay patient and hope for this issue to be resolved in an orderly and timely manner,” Faizal told reporters after presenting mock cheques to school representatives in his office at the state secretariat building here today (December 5).
Nevertheless, Faizal, who’s also the deputy president of the Malaysian United Indigenous Party (Bersatu), stated that all parties under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition will schedule a discussion regarding the matter at the nearest possible time.
He added, despite each party having its own set of needs and wants, members who wish to form and realise a stable government will have to sacrifice something.
“My position remains functional until an assembly member is able to prove that they have the mandate and majority support.
“Should HRH Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah have the confidence in and acknowledge the mandate of a certain candidate, it’s only appropriate of me to resign from the post and facilitate a smooth administration transition,” Faizal expressed.
