Meru’s Makers’ Market Helps Local Charities

As Christmas looms, Meru Valley Resort has launched Meru’s Makers’ Market, a new online marketplace, to support local makers and growers around Ipoh while donating its profit to local charities. Hosted on Facebook Live, the market changes its theme bi-monthly, from local craft to organic produce, with free delivery within the local area.

The first two editions raised RM1,600 for Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Silibin, Ipoh, a local charity for physically challenged children.

Golf Manager Leong Mei Yee explained, “For the very first time in 30 years, we’ve gone digital with our marketplace. This is a new territory for us, but one we’re very excited about as we have received great support from the members, residents, staff and Facebook users. We are happy to extend the market stalls twice a month with wholesome bric-a-brac, second hand books, local arts, craft, plants and Meru merchandise in support of charity in the upcoming live events.”

“With safety a top priority, Meru’s Makers’ Market has created a safe and socially distant space for not only the makers, but our community too,” she added.

The first edition featured one-of-a-kind arts and crafts by Meru Patchwork Society, followed by organic produce sponsored by Papa Harvest, a local grower from Cameron Highlands.

With free delivery across Ipoh, the third edition of Meru’s Makers’ Market will feature golfing gear from the Golf Boutique at the resort on Saturday, December 26 from 11am to 12 noon.
