Ipoh City Council (MBI) takes illegal dumping and trash piling around residential and business premises seriously.
According to the Ipoh Mayor, Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin, community awareness must be instilled starting at home, to pave the way towards a generation that is more disciplined and concerned about environmental cleanliness.
“Besides MBI as a local authority (PBT) in maintaining the city’s cleanliness, Ipohites’ awareness and cooperation are equally as crucial to achieve the mission of making Ipoh the cleanest city.
“Next year, the council will allocate 14 additional trash lorries and ensure that wastes are recycled.
“Also, we’ll be undertaking a corporate social responsibility (CSR) project, where rubbish bins are to be contributed to each and every household.
“This is an effort that we deem more effective in driving society to betterment in aspects of hygiene,” he told Ipoh Echo during an exclusive interview at his office in the MBI building today (December 18).
Rumaizi also stressed that the council will always prepare infrastructural amenities for the public, but they must be taken care of and preserved responsibly.
“We hope for these amenities to be jointly utilised and maintained.
“We believe the public is getting smarter in assessing and appreciating the importance of public properties, thus we’re confident that our mission of making Ipoh the cleanest city can be successfully implemented,” he expressed.
