Malaysia through the lenses of a Mat Salleh: Episode 18

Malaysia through the lenses of a Mat Salleh

Happy Friday!

Day 18: The Kinta Valley’s prestigious past

As explained when I posted Episode 14 on Heritage places in Ipoh Old Town, I believe that the vintage filter enhances the captures of testimonies of the past. The Kinta Valley’s tin-mining history is still present, though many buildings and sites have either been destroyed or renovated, progressively erasing the past. The Kinta Valley was one of the wealthiest places in Asia and people were coming here from everywhere. Tin, rubber and, later, palm trees were generating massive business. Here are some remains of this prestigious past of the area where it all started for Malaysia in the 1990s.

Bon voyage.
