Expressway Connecting Gopeng and Kuala Kangsar Suggested
A new expressway which connects Gopeng directly to Kuala Kangsar is suggested for construction.
According to the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad, the project will be undertaken by a construction company entrusted by the state government.
“We are agreeable to and supporting the expressway project. However, no funding from the state government will be involved. The company will have to locate the sources of funding themselves.”
He told reporters so during a media session after a launching ceremony of a logo for the Perak State Women and Community Development Secretariat at the state secretariat building earlier today (March 17).
In attendance were the Executive Councillor for Women and Family Development, Social Welfare and NGO, Datuk Dr Wan Noorashikin Wan Noordin and state secretary Dato’ Ahmad Suaidi Abdul Rahim, among others.
“Undeniably, with the addition of a new expressway, it’ll help reduce and divert traffic congestion, especially from along the Menora Tunnel of the Plus North-South Expressway, which is also a part of the expressway prone to accidents.
“It’ll also serve as a shortcut for travelling from Gopeng to Kuala Kangsar and vice versa,” Saarani added.
