The Haven Cuisines Specialty Restaurant at The Haven Resorts Ipoh is featuring over 50 kampung-style delicacies in their Ramadan buffet spread to be made available daily beginning Friday, April 16 till Saturday, May 8 from 7pm till 10pm.
Not to be missed are the Itik Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi (smoked duck curry with coconut and bird’s eye chilli) and Sup Gearbox (bone marrow soup).
“Sup Gearbox, served in a big bowl with condiments, is a favourite of many to break their fast as it takes at least 5 to 6 hours of continuous boiling in order to obtain its flavour. Meanwhile, the Itik Salai Masak Lemak Cili Padi is unique for its spicy kick and aroma. This local dish hails from Negeri Sembilan which is famous for its smoked products. We are featuring these two signature dishes for the first time ever and I believe we might be one of the first in Ipoh to offer such items,” Mohammad Shamsul Azham, Executive Chef explained to Ipoh Echo during a recent food-tasting session.
Other timeless classics in the buffet menu to be changed nightly include Gulai Ikan Masin (curry with salted fish), Udang Sambal Petai (spicy chili gravy with prawn and bitter beans), Ayam Masak Merah (Chicken in Spicy Tomato Sauce), Bubur Lambuk (spiced congee), Kambing Peratal (dry mutton curry), Nangka Muda Masak Lemak (jackfruit in spicy coconut gravy), Nasi Hujan Panas (rainbow ghee rice) and stir fried squid with celery.
Besides that, the five live-cooking stalls serve an assortment of barbequed items, noodles, fried snacks, Arabic dishes and soup. Also, save some room for desserts of various pastry, pudding, kuih (traditional cakes) and fresh tropical fruit.
Did I mention that the sumptuous spread is prepared with no artificial additives or MSG? Plus, one would be served by the attentive members of the crew who are ever ready to assist.
