Eligible non-Bumiputera Perakeans may now apply for the position of police constable in the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) without requiring distinctions in the Bahasa Melayu subject for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) (Malaysian Certificate of Education).
The Grade YA1 police constable position is now open for both male and female applicants via the Non-Bumiputera Special Intake that started on March 18. Applications are to be done through PDRM’s e-Intake website.
The relaxed condition is to encourage more non-Bumiputera Malaysians to join the PDRM force which is short in manpower.
However, those chosen for the position will need to resit for the SPM-level Bahasa Melayu subject within six years of service and a distinction grade is required.
Should they fail to obtain the distinction by the duration, their service will be terminated.
The managing director of PDRM, Datuk Ramli Din reported that non-Bumiputera individuals who have applied for the position previously may register for new ones.
“Priority is given to those fluent in both spoken and written Chinese, Tamil and their respective mother languages.
“Applicants will be called for interview sessions at major cities around the country,” he explained.
Ramli added, PDRM will be holding special intakes of Grade YA13, Grade YA1 Constable, Grade YP1 Orang Asli Constable and Grade YT1 Constable for the Orang Asli community.
