A furniture store at Simpang Ampat in Semanggol, Perak, was destroyed in a fire that broke out yesterday (April 14).
According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 8.53pm yesterday.
“A squad and a fire vehicle from the Bagan Serai Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were rushed to the location right after.
“Upon arrival, the shop lot of B class with a width of 80×40 feet was found under fire which had consumed 80 percent of the overall structure.
“A hose with two water jets from the fire vehicle was used for the extinguishing operation, aided by on-scene staff from BBP in Kamunting, Taiping and Kuala Kangsar, along with volunteer fire brigades (PBS), using offensive and defensive techniques.
“The operation involved a total of 29 fire personnel, including the PBS. The fire was successfully put out by 12.54am earlier today (April 15),” he explained.
Senior Fire Officer II Muhammad Shahril Shahruddin led the operation.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of fire and total losses. No casualties were reported.
