Tourism Malaysia Northern Region hosted a 3-day familiarisation trip (fam trip) for 25 participants, representing 10 travel agencies from Pulau Pinang and Kedah, to places of interest around Perak from April 27 to 29.
An acquaintance session was held at The Haven Cuisines Specialty Restaurant on the first day of the trip with the tourism operators, NGOs and media members of Perak in attendance.
In collaboration with tourism alliance marketing platform, WowCuti, a total of 10 attractive yet affordable packages promoting Perak tourism products are created in conjunction with the fam trip which will be activated once interstate travels are permitted in future. The family-friendly packages are priced from as low as RM138 covering Kuala Kangsar, Taiping, Teluk Intan, Kuala Sepetang, Gopeng, Ipoh, Kuala Kurau and Pangkor among others.
“The aim of the trip is to equip ourselves with firsthand experience and be prepared for when interstate travels are permitted in future. We are also in the midst of crafting more interstate packages in order to create unique experiences for tourists visiting the states in the northern region,” Yoganthiran Manikam, Deputy Director of Tourism Malaysia Northern Region explained.
“The packages are designed according to themes such as exploring different beaches, highlands, eco spots and other gems,” Pua Ming Leong, General Manager of Top Leisure shared.
“Via the fam trip, we get to discover new tourism products such as the biggest maze garden in Malaysia at Tanjung Tualang Tin Dredge No. 5 (TT5). We also visited the Soil Of Art Ceramics in Batu Gajah where the handicrafts have the potential to be a tourist attraction,” he added.
