A four-year-old boy drowned after being washed away along a river at Kampung Ulu Piah earlier today (May 15).
According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call regarding the incident was received at around 10.49am.
“A squad and a vehicle from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the location of the incident right after.
“However, another call was received three minutes later (10.52am), informing that the body of the drowned victim had been found.
“Upon arrival, it was shown that the victim was found about 1km away from the point where he slipped and fell into the river.
“The rescue squad subsequently monitored the surroundings of the area and obtained further information regarding the deceased victim.
“He was verified dead by on-site health staff. His remains were handed over to the police for further actions,” the spokesperson explained.
The operation which ended at around 12pm was led by Senior Fire Officer II Abdul Rahman Abdullah.
